Join our Olive Picking & Lunch Experience!
Alcorriol is a small village located in the municipality of Torres Novas, in the Santarém district of Portugal. Like many rural villages in Portugal, Alcorriol reflects the traditional Portuguese way of life, with a quiet, close-knit community and picturesque surroundings. The village is part of the Ribatejo region, known for its agricultural heritage and beautiful landscapes, including rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves.
Clients will help one of our neighbours harvest his olives. Nothing will be staged, everything will be authentic. We will meet next to the church… from there we will walk to the neighbour’s olive grove, where he will be waiting for us with his family…
We will experience all the stages of olive harvesting: spreading the cloth… knocking down or ripping the olives using ancient and more modern methods… gathering the olives and separating the leaves… who knows, maybe we only use very ancient methods here… by hand! We will then indulge in the most typical lunch in Alcorriol… cabbage with beans and oven-roasted sardines and grilled cod… of course… with coffee you can’t miss our broas dos Santos!
After lunch, we will visit the homemade olive press where one of our neighbours produces organic olive oil!
