Our Producer
Our skilled producer picked Estremoz to produce his own wines after wrapping up a long career as a consultant winemaker in the main wine-growing regions of the country.
His first harvest dates back to 1992 and in the following years, the wine here was produced in rented buildings. In 1997, vinification took place in the new estate for the very first time!
The construction of the winery in Estremoz then began in that year. At the winery Vila Santa, modern practices are combined with the best Portuguese wine-growing tradition, and part of the grapes for those sophisticated wines are still trodden by foot.
Farm History
The winery was soon enlarged to meet growing demand and now comprises 9.000 square meters with a modern vinification technology, a bottling area and cellars with approximately 2.000 French, American and Portuguese oak barrels for aging the various wines.
The company then built a brand new winery which today stands as a testament to João Portugal Ramos’ strong commitment to the region and Evora wines. Exemplary winemaking and an impressive bottling facility make the winery the most sophisticated in Almeirim.
Creating a wine is an art that we have been perfecting for centuries, and now we want to show and share this art with you.
